No. 15 W&L Women’s Golf Leads After First Round at ODAC Championships

NELLYSFORD, Va. – The No. 15-ranked Washington and Lee University women's golf team holds a two-stroke lead after the opening round of the 2024 ODAC Women's Golf Championships, posting a team score of 314 (+14) on Sunday at Wintergreen Resort's Stoney Creek Course (Par 72, 5,676 yards).

The Generals top the 39-player, 7-team field heading into Monday's second round, ahead of No. 16 Randolph-Macon (+16, 316). W&L took advantage of a strong middle stretch of play and leads the tournament despite windy, cool spring conditions in the Blue Ridge Mountains. The average round score was 86.69, highlighting the strength of the Generals' team-wide consistency.

Individual Highlights

  • First-year Berkeley Bundy leads W&L and sits second overall at +1, highlighted by a dominant stretch from Holes 7-10, where she carded three birdies in four holes. She is tied for the most birdies (3) in the field.
  • Junior Julia Haetzel and senior Laetitia Roegner are tied for fifth at +4, both putting together composed rounds. Haetzel added two birdies, while Roegner played a nearly perfect front nine, shooting +1 (37) at the turn.
  • Sophomore Ella Wong is tied for eighth at +5, recording 14 pars and playing steady golf, including even-par scoring on all par 5s.
  • First-year Alex Crews rounds out the Generals' scoring in 22nd place at +15, showing resilience after a tough start.
