GLEN ALLEN, Va. – The No. 16-ranked Washington and Lee University women's golf team opened play at the Max and Susan Stith Invitational on Monday, finishing tied for seventh place with a team score of 315 (+27) after the first round at The Dominion Club (Par 72, 5,646 yards).
The Generals are tied with No. 26 Huntingdon and No. 14 Randolph-Macon, as the field proved challenging. Top-ranked Carnegie Mellon led the way with a 2-under-par round (286), while No. 10 NYU sits in second at +11 (299). The tournament field saw an average score of 80.39 strokes per round in the opening round.

- Par 4 Scoring Leader: Julia Haetzel (Even on Par 4s)

Individual Highlights:
- Junior Julia Haetzel had the best round for W&L, shooting a 1-over 73, placing her tied for sixth overall. She finished even on par 4s, recorded 15 pars (second-most in the field), and tied for the fewest bogeys (2) in the round.
- Sophomore Ella Wong carded a 7-over 79, sitting tied for 35th place.
- First-year Berkeley Bundy finished tied for 44th place after a 9-over 81.
- Senior Laetitia Roegner and senior Marcella Mercer both posted 10-over rounds (82), finishing tied for 47th place.
