Swimming Records Fall at W&L Last Chance Meet

LEXINGTON, Va. - The Washington and Lee University men's and women's swimming team competed at the W&L Last Chance Meet on Saturday, breaking multiple records and improving their times for the NCAA Championships.

HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE MEET
  • Senior Matt Fritz highlighted the group with a record breaking performance in the 200 individual medley. Fritz clocked in a time of 1:48.99 to set a new pool record while breaking the program record in the event. His record breaking time surpasses Dalton Jobe's mark of 1:49.75 which was set at last year's ODAC Championships.
  • Myla Rice, Vivian Pickeral, Bella Tarbet and Amelia Maloof teamed up in the 200 freestyle relay. The squad clocked in a time of 1:34.02 to improve their NCAA B-cut time and set a new pool record while tying the program and ODAC record.
  • Charles Byars, Harrison Cerone, Matt Fritz and Leighton Chapman broke the program and ODAC record on Saturday in the 200 medley relay, clocking in a time of 1:28.31 which also reset the pool record as well.

UP NEXT
  • Both men's and women's team will await to see if they have qualified for the 2025 NCAA Division III Men's and Women's Swimming Championships in Greensboro, N.C. Selections will be announced during the first week of March.
