LEXINGTON, Va. — The Washington and Lee University wrestling team dominated the ODAC Individual Championships on Saturday evening with seven wrestlers appearing in the championship bouts in front of a home crowd at Holekamp Gymnasium. The Generals earned four individual championships, nine earned All-ODAC accolades by finishing on the podium and all ten placed in the top-5 of every weight class.
With 156 team points, the Generals edged out Roanoke College (134.5) and Averett University (133.5) to take first place in the team tournament standings. Greensboro College (70.5) and Southern Virginia University (65.0) rounded out the top five.
Leading the way for W&L were individual champions Evan Lindner (149 lbs.), Mark Troni (165 lbs.), John Santowski (197 lbs.), and Carter Stack (285 lbs.). Lindner won his title match with an 11-4 decision, Troni earned a hard-fought 6-5 decision, Santowski secured a 9-0 major decision, and Stack pinned his opponent in 4:32 to clinch the Generals' victory.
Additional Highlights for Washington and Lee:
- Second-place finishes: Vincent Ziccardi (133 lbs.), Jacob Wright (174 lbs.), and Jack McCusker (184 lbs.)
- Third-place finishes: Tony Urso (125 lbs.) and Skyler Hickman (141 lbs.)
- Fifth-place finish: Colin Bridges (157 lbs.)
W&L also led in several statistical categories, including the most pins (9) in the shortest combined time (16:49), the most technical falls (8), and the highest total match points (275).
Roanoke College was honored with the ODAC Championship trophy at the begining of the match for going a perfect 7-0 in ODAC Duals.
