DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Led by the efforts of Mauro Panaggio Holiday Tournament All-Tournament Team player Addison Newkirk, the Washington and Lee men's basketball team claimed an 81-62 win over SUNY Brockport in Tuesday's consolation game.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Both teams' offenses were hot out of the gates, with Brockport holding a 22-21 lead through nine minutes. The Golden Eagles (2-5) shot 64.3 percent (9-14) in that time, to 50 percent (7-14) from the Generals (7-1). The opening nine minutes also featured five lead changes.
  • After a minute and a half with no points, sophomore Bryce Breeden kickstarted a half-ending 28-6 run when he made two sets of three free throws. The stretch started with 18 consecutive points, with senior John Loughlin putting a stamp on the run with a three to end the half.
  • The Generals pushed their lead to a high of 28 on three occasions in the second half, coming out of the break by shooting 7-of-11 from the floor while holding Brockport to just 5-of-15.
  • The final margin of 19 points was the closest the Golden Eagles came to W&L over the final eight and a half minutes. They made five of their final 12 shots from the floor.
