HAMPTON, Va. — The No. 25 Washington and Lee University men's swimming team secured a second-place team finish at the Randolph-Macon Yellow Jackets Invitational, compiling 817 points over the three-day meet.
The Generals trailed champion Salisbury (1,502) and held their position ahead of Catholic (710.5) to close out the fall invitational slate with a strong final session on Sunday evening.
W&L picked up multiple top-five finishes in the final session, highlighted by
Leighton Chapman's runner-up performance in the 100 freestyle and a
Zane Ross podium finish in the 200 butterfly.
Lucas Chacon delivered an 11th-place finish in the mile, while
Charles Byars,
Thomas Denton,
Dalton Jobe, and Chapman powered a second-place showing in the 400 freestyle relay that capped the final evening.
Washington and Lee returns to action on Saturday, January 10, competing in the Johns Hopkins Tri-Meet in Baltimore, Md., against No. 15 Johns Hopkins University and No. 14 College of New Jersey. Competition begins at 1 p.m.
