Women's Cross Country NCAA South Region Championships Preview

SALEM, Va. – The No. 14 nationally ranked Washington and Lee University women's cross country team will look to continue its postseason momentum on Saturday, November 15, at the 2025 NCAA Division III South Region Championships hosted at Green Hill Park in Salem, Va. The men's 8k will begin at 10:00 a.m., with the women's 6k following at 11:00 a.m.

W&L WOMEN'S PREVIEW

The No. 14 Washington and Lee women's cross country team enters the NCAA South Region Championships as one of the strongest squads in Division III following a commanding performance at the 2025 ODAC Championships. The Generals scored 21 points at Bridgewater and placed all seven scorers inside the top nine to secure their 21st conference title and second straight crown.

Junior Olivia Warr led W&L with a course-record finish of 21:39.8 to repeat as the ODAC individual champion. Junior Lydia Harvey followed in second place in 22:06.4, also under the previous course record, and was voted the ODAC/Virginia Farm Bureau Scholar-Athlete of the Year. Behind them, the Generals swept places five through seven with performances from Maddy Morgan, Eve Spencer and Reese Brown, giving W&L five First Team All-ODAC selections. First-years Josie Engle and Adelaide Ellis closed the top seven in eighth and ninth place, respectively, adding two Second Team All-ODAC honors.

Washington and Lee enters the weekend ranked No. 1 in the USTFCCCA South Region and is projected as the region's automatic qualifier for the NCAA Championships. According to D3 Glory Days and USTFCCCA Regional Poll.

Emory, ranked No. 16 nationally and second in the region, is expected to be the top challenger after placing fifth at the competitive UAA Championships. Christopher Newport, Southern Virginia and Rhodes round out the region's top five and will contend for at-large consideration.

Several individuals from across the region are also expected to challenge for national-qualifying positions, including Lynchburg's Adelynn Carpenter and Rhodes' Elena Gentry. With momentum, experience and a deep scoring pack, the Generals appear well-positioned to defend their South Region title and earn another berth to the NCAA Championships.

The regional meet will be timed by Snap Timing, with live splits and final results available here and course maps can be found in the participant manual. 

Competition Site

The course is a 2K and 3K loop, almost entirely on grass. Men will run a 2K loop first, followed by the 3K loop twice. Women will run the 3K loop twice. The championship course is spectator and athlete friendly with splits at each kilometer.
