Ty Collins cut the lead in half with a 23-yard rushing touchdown before connecting with
Teddy Sparrow with 2:09 remaining in the game to make it 28-21. An ensuing onside kick, which seemed to fall into the Generals' hands, was recovered by Shenandoah to secure the win.
Steven Hugney led all passers with a 9-for-16 (56%) performance in the pocket for 98 yards and a touchdown while adding 74 yards on the ground.

National Statistical Rankings:
The Generals' offense is ranked among the nation's best in five statistical categories this season. They rank second in tackles for loss allowed, having surrendered just 24 total — an average of 2.67 per game. W&L also ranks third in both rushing offense (321.1 yards per game) and sacks allowed (0.44 per game), conceding only four sacks through nine games. Additionally, they rank 14th in time of possession, averaging 33:17 per game, and 24th in Division III in passing yards per completion, with an average of 14.82 yards per catch.
Individually,
Ryan Clemens and
Brennan Stout both rank among the Top-20 nationally. Clemens is seventh in Division III in rushing yards per carry, averaging an impressive 7.22 yards per attempt this season. Stout ranks 17th in tackles per game, averaging 10.9 stops across nine contests.
Around the ODAC:
Nationally-ranked Randolph-Macon – 18th by the AFCA and 21st by D3football.com – was resting at home on their scheduled bye in Week 10, but that didn't keep the Yellow Jackets from clinching the ODAC's automatic entry into Division III's 40-team postseason bracket and at least a share of their fourth straight and league-best 16th conference trophy.
This situation was created by Bridgewater's 45-42 road win at No. 25 (AFCA) Hampden-Sydney. That leaves Washington and Lee as the only team that can tie Randolph-Macon in the ODAC league table. The Yellow Jackets are 7-0 in conference games heading into the regular season finale against H-SC in the 130th playing of "The Game" in Ashland, while the Generals are 6-1 following their 35-14 home win over Roanoke, increasing their winning streak to five straight games. RMC has a leg-up towards the NCAA tournament given its 24-6 win over WLU in September.
Shenandoah returned to the win column on Saturday with a 52-14 triumph over Gallaudet. Averett earned its first victory of the season at Guilford, posting a 27-21 triumph over the Quakers.
