LEXINGTON, Va. — The No. 24 Washington and Lee University wrestling team delivered another commanding performance in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) action, defeating Shenandoah University 40-6 on Thursday night at Doremus Gymnasium.
With the victory, W&L improves to 13-3 overall and 4-1 in ODAC duals, while Shenandoah falls to 3-8 overall and 1-4 in conference competition. The Generals dominated across multiple weight classes, securing nine of the ten bouts, including three major decisions, two technical falls, and one pin.
Leading the night off, Anthony Urso found himself in an early 15-3 deficit in the first period but mounted a remarkable 20-point comeback. He secured a takedown and accumulated 15 nearfall points, along with a pair of penalty points, to erase the gap and claim a major decision victory.
Washington and Lee dominated the dual, registering technical falls in the 285- and 149-pound classes, while Mark Troni added a second-period fall at 165 pounds to contribute to the Generals' commanding win.
The Blue and White are on the road this weekend at Greensboro and will wrestle the Pride at 7 p.m. on Saturday, February 1.
