No. 13 W&L Women’s Golf Opens Season at MCC Women’s Collegiate

LEXINGTON, Va. – The 13th-ranked Washington and Lee University women's golf team opened their 2024-25 season at the MCC Women's Collegiate, finishing the first round in fifth place. Playing towards the team card, Crews, Mercer, Roegner, Wong and Shelmire scored 11 birdies to finish round one with 303 strokes, 15 over par. Mercer led the way with six birdies and Crews added four and nine holes for par.

Playing as individuals, Bundy played steady in her first collegiate round, scoring par on all but three holes, including a birdie and Haetzel birdied on the 18th hole to close out the first round.

Ahead of W&L, No. 19 Mary Hardin-Baylor (291, + 3) leads the field at three strokes over par, followed by top-ranked Carnegie Mellon (+2), No. 10 Washington-St. Louis (+9), and No. 2 Emory (+10). 

Piedmont's Erin Donovan tops the individual leaderboard at six strokes under par, followed by No. 17 Methodist's Emily Gresham (-3). 

Monday's action starts with Roegner who tees off at 10 a.m. tomorrow as the Generals look to move up the leaderboard over the final round.
