Men's Golf Wraps Up Jekyll Island Collegiate

ST. SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. - The sixth-ranked Generals wrapped up the 54-hole Jekyll Island Collegiate tournament on Sunday evening and placed 16th overall. 

First-year Jonathan McEwen paced the Blue and White with a top-10 finish and tied for seventh place. The rookie finished three strokes over par with a scorecard of 73-71-72--216. 
The Generals concluded the tournament with a team score of 292-295-314--901 (+49).

Rhodes College's Avery Stansell won the individual leaderboard with rounds of 69, 71 and 69 to finish four strokes under par. Ogelthorpe won the team title 18 strokes over par and a total score of 870.

  • Round 1 Average Score: 76.47 (150 rounds)

FINAL RESULTS

Jonathan McEwen (73-71-72--216, +3)
  • First-year Jonathan McEwenrose eight sports from the second to third round and finished tied for 7th at three strokes over par.
  • McEwen carded seven birdies and 37 holes for par. 

Walker McPhail (71-75-81--227, +14)

  • Walker McPhail finished tied for 68th place.
  • McPhail recorded five birdies over the three rounds of play.
Elias Malakoff (70-79-79--228, +15)
  • Elias Malakoff dropped 21 positions and finished tied for 74th place. 
  •  Malakoff registered eight birdies to lead W&L .

Cannon Crane (78-81-82--241, +28) 

  • Cannon Crane scored two birdies and finished tied for 135th place.

Will Braxton (80-70, Withdraw)

  • Will Braxton had the best round of the tournament for W&L on the second round and scored two strokes under par. 
  • Braxton undercame illness for the final round and withdrew from the tournament. 

FINAL TEAM STATS

  • The Generals performed the best on pra5 holes and finished two strokes under par with an average of 4.95 strokes per hole.
  • W&L recorded 152 pars combined and 30 total birdies.
