Men's Golf Concludes at Hampden-Sydney

FARMVILLE, Va. - Members of the Washington and Lee University men's golf team completed the Manor Invitational hosted by Hampden-Sydney College on Sunday afternoon. 

Teddy Ross, Devan Patel, Turner Edwards, and Peter Sheakley all represented the Generals as individuals at the Manor Golf Club in the 36-hole tournament. 


First-year Devan Patel rose two sports over the second round and was the top-finisher for W&L and placed  tied for 13th place and five strokes over par.

  • Round One Average Score - 77.57 (+5.57)
  • Round Two Average Score - 78.86 (+6.86)

Devan Patel (75-74--149, +5)

  • Patel improved his strokes over the second round finishing two over on Sunday's 18 holes. 
  • Patel carded three birdies and 26 pars. 
  • First Round Position: Three strokes over par, T15
  • Final Position: Five strokes over par, T13

Teddy Ross (75-77--152, +8)

  • Ross carded six birdies and 18 pars.
  • Ross scored an even 36 on the front nine on Saturday and the back nine on Sunday.
  • First Round Position: Three strokes over par, T15
  • Final Position: Eight strokes over par, T19

Turner Edwards ( 81-75--156, +12)

  • Edwards carded 21 pars and three birdies over the weekend.  
  • Edwards improve his stroke total by six from the first to second day and jumped 12 positions on the leaderboard.
  • First Round Position: Nine strokes over par, T39
  • Final Position: 12 strokes over par, 27th

Peter Sheakley (82-77--159, +15)

  • Over the weekend Sheakley recorded 19 pars and two birdies.
  • Sheakley cut his strokes over par in half from round one to round two and jumped six positions on the individual leaderboard.  
  • First Round Position: 10 strokes over par, 43rd
  • Final Position: 15 strokes over par, 37th
BY THE NUMBERS
  • W&L scored an average of 3.47 strokes on par 3s, 4.30 on par 4s, and 5.03 on par 5s.
  • The Generals tallied 84 pars and 14 birdies
