YORK, Pa. – The Washington and Lee University wrestling team completed a strong opening day at the New Standard Invitational, finishing Friday in second place among 15 teams with 49 points.
The Generals trail the United States Merchant Marine Academy (50.5 points) by just 1.5 points heading into day two of competition, which resumes Saturday at 10 a.m. on the campus of York College.
Eight Generals advanced to the championship quarterfinals, while another eight remain alive in the consolation brackets. Notable performances included success across multiple weight classes, positioning W&L for a strong showing in the team standings.
