SALEM, Va. – The No. 12-ranked Washington and Lee University men's cross country team secured second place at the 2024 ODAC Cross Country Championships on Saturday at Green Hill Park.
The Generals scored 40 points, finishing behind No. 11 Lynchburg, who won with 18 points. All seven W&L scorers placed in the top 20, with four earning All-ODAC honors.
Keaton Rush led the team with a 5th-place finish in 24:57.2, followed by senior Row Sterne and sophomore Robert Cooper in 6th and 7th, respectively, securing First Team All-ODAC honors.
Thomas Franklin (9th) and Colin Verrett (15th) completed the top five and Franklin received Second Team All-ODAC recognition.
Rush was named the 2024 ODAC/Virginia Farm Bureau Scholar-Athlete of the Year. His academic accolades include being a 2x President's List honoree, 4x W&L Scholar-Athlete, 2023-24 USTFCCCA All-Academic member, CSC Academic All-District recipient, and 2x Academic All-ODAC honoree.
As team co-captain in 2024-25, Rush consistently finished as a top-3 runner and contributed to three top-3 team finishes, including a victory at the Bates College Invite. His efforts helped W&L reach a program-best No. 12 national ranking. He placed 8th at the Rowan Interregional Border Battle (8k) in 24:42.5, aiding W&L's upset over then No. 6 Johns Hopkins.
Rush also serves as Associate Director of the Williams Investment Society, Treasurer of the Executive Committee, and Equity Research Analyst with Prothro Clark Company. He has accepted an investment banking analyst role with Wells Fargo for summer 2025 and volunteers with Campus Kitchen and as a local elementary school mentor.
