LEXINGTON, Va. – The Washington and Lee University wrestling team opened its home dual season on a tough note, falling to 15th-ranked Roanoke College, 33-7, on Friday evening in Doremus Gymnasium.
The Generals (0-1) secured victories in two weight classes during the dual. First-year Carter Stack earned a dominant major decision (10-0) at 285 pounds against Brady Elswick, showcasing strong control throughout the bout. Junior Evan Lindner followed with a hard-fought 4-2 decision at 149 pounds over Dustin Smith.
Roanoke (1-0) demonstrated its depth and strength across the lineup, claiming wins in eight weight classes, including falls at 125 and 165 pounds. The dual highlighted four tightly contested matches,within five points of scoring, including a sudden victory bout at 197 pounds, where Lorenzo Pellot-Vázquez edged W&L's John Santowski, 11-8.
