PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The 14th-ranked Washington and Lee University women's golf team concluded the Tartan Invitational at Nemacolin Woodlands Resort on the Mystic Rock course, finishing 10th overall with a team score of +63. The course played at 5,656 yards, par 72, with the average tournament score at 80.29 strokes.
Junior Julia Haetzel remained strong on the second day of competition and improved her score by three strokes and four positions on the leaderboard to finish 11th, her best individual standing since winning the ODAC title as a rookie.
W&L RESULTS:
- Julia Haetzel (77-75—152, +8) tied for 11th overall, with two birdies on her final holes and 11 pars.
- An Shelmire (80-79—159, +15) tied for 30th, registering four birdies and 17 pars over 36 holes.
- Laetitia Roegner (80-79—159, +15), competing individually, also tied for 30th with six birdies and 13 pars.
- Ella Wong (79-82—161, +17) dropped to 38th, adding two birdies in the final round.
- Alex Crews (90-81—171, +27) finished 56th, improving five places on the leaderboard in the final round.
- Marcella Mercer (86-88—174, +30) finished 58th.
BY THE NUMBERS:
- Second-ranked Emory won the team title at +18, maintaining their position at the top.
- The top four teams remained the same from the first and second round.
- Sydney Kuo (Washington-St. Louis) won the individual title at -4 with a tournament-low round of 68 on Monday.
- Esther Jung (Emory) took second at -2, followed by Sryiya Mupparaju (Carnegie Mellon) in third with an even score.
