Mitchell Leads No. 21 Women's Cross Country at Paul Short Invitational

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The No. 21 Washington and Lee women's cross country team placed 13th out of 46 Division III teams at the Paul Short Invitational White 6k race, the largest field to date with 407 runners.

Senior Emma Mitchell led W&L with a 27th-place finish in 22:06.3 and headlined four Generals who finished inside the top 100.

BY THE NUMBERS

W&L scored 338 points, finishing behind several nationally-ranked teams, including No. 11 Amherst (1st, 135 points), No. 7 Emory (2nd, 152 points), and No. 3 NYU (3rd, 186 points). Unranked RPI put together a strong performance to finish fourth ahead of the 10 additional USTFCCCA Top-30 programs competing at Leigh's event.

The Generals will race again on Friday, October 11 at the Royals Cross Country Challenge hosted by the Queens University of Charlotte.
