Jobe takes 12th, sets ODAC and program 400 IM record twice

3/16/2023 8:05:00 PM

GREENSBORO, N.C. – In the final day of racing of his rookie campaign, Washington and Lee first-year Dalton Jobe (Henrico, Va. / Collegiate School) placed 12th in the finals of the 400 IM at the 2023 NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships on Thursday.

Jobe qualified for the finals race with a 14th-place finish during the morning session. Entering the day as the No. 17 seed and owning the 19th-fastest time in Division III this season, Jobe swam a time of 3:56.90 to secure a spot in the finals. That time also established a new ODAC and program record.

In the finals, Jobe cut his time down once more to a mark of 3:56.66, and he reset the ODAC and program standards. His 12th-place performance also locked up an Honorable Mention All-America citation, the first for the program since the 2019 meet when Patrick Sullivan '20 placed fifth in the 200 free.

By resetting the ODAC and program record twice on Thursday, Jobe capped off his first season at W&L having broken the ODAC record four times and the men's swimming program mark three times.

This concludes the 2022-23 W&L men's swimming season. The 2023-24 schedule will be released over the summer.
