GREENSBORO, N.C. – The 2023 NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships got underway on Wednesday and Washington and Lee first-year
Dalton Jobe (Henrico, Va. / Collegiate School) broke a program and conference record in his lone event.
Jobe competed in the preliminary race for the 200 individual medley and finished 18th with a final time of 1:50.11. That broke the previous program record of 1:51.67 held by Danny Lynch '21. Additionally, it surpassed the ODAC record of 1:51.55 held by Randolph-Macon's Bobby Brajdic, which was set on February 13, 2014.
Entering the day with a top time in the 200 IM of 1:54.37, Jobe shaved over four seconds off that time in his efforts and narrowly missed securing an Honorable Mention All-America citation by just 0.35 seconds.
Jobe will return to the pool on Thursday for the 400 individual medley prelims at 10:00 am, with a chance at the finals race at 6:00 pm. He has a top time in the event of 3:57.03 this season, which is tied for the 19th-fastest time in Division III.
