GREENSBORO, N.C. – The 24th-ranked Washington and Lee men's swimming team opened the 2023 ODAC Championship meet in style on Wednesday, setting a new meet record in winning the 800 free relay.
Highlights from the meet:
-The quartet of first-years
Dalton Jobe (Henrico, Va. / Collegiate School) and
Charles Byars (Oxford, Miss. / Oxford), junior
Bennett Ehret (Stamford, Conn. / Westhill) and sophomore
Luke Nagel (Wayne, Pa. / Conestoga) posted a time of 6:42.94 in the win. That time also met the current NCAA B-cut mark of 6:45.00.
-The Generals won the race in dominating fashion, as second-place Roanoke finished just under 14 and a half seconds later (6:57.32). The Maroons competing in the race were Chris Snow, Josh Rauch, Kellen Drawbaugh and Ethan Brewer.
-Bridgewater trailed Roanoke in third, while Randolph-Macon and Lynchburg capped the top-five teams in the race.

The Generals will be back for the second day of the ODAC Championships on Thursday, with preliminary events beginning at 10:00 am and finals at 6:00 pm.
