ROANOKE, Va. – The 17th-ranked Washington and Lee women's soccer team got 11 players on the scoresheet, seven with at least one goal, in a 9-0 road win at Hollins on Wednesday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Sophomore
Sophie Berman opened the scoring at the 4:49 mark of the first half off an assist from senior
Cameron Grainger, followed by a
Helen Otteni goal just 45 seconds later. First-years
Emily Burke and
Abigail Watson teamed up for the third goal in the 25th minute, while first-year
Stephanie Zawtocki closed out the half with her second goal of the season with 33 seconds before the break.
Sophomore
Sarah Zimmerman got things going again in the second half for the Blue and White (8-0-4, 4-0-2 ODAC), with a pair of goals in the 47th and 57th minutes. First-year
Gracie Jorgensen put the team up 7-0 on her first collegiate goal in the 79th minute, and junior
Sarah Lathrop wrapped up the scoring with goals in the 84th and 88th minutes.
TOP PERFORMERS:
Zimmerman and Lathrop had a team-high four points each on their two goals, and Watson rounded out the trio of Generals to account for multiple scores as she dished out two assists. Grainger, sophomore

Bryn Bissinger and first-year
Shay Bowman completed the point-scorers on the day with one assist each.
The Generals were led in shots by Lathrop and Burke, who both tallied six attempts and combined for seven on goal. Jorgensen, Zawtocki and junior
Whitney McCormick came in next with five shots apiece.
All three goalkeepers on the W&L roster saw time in goal in the game. Senior
Sydney Smith started and made way to sophomore
Abby Groff after 13:24. Groff covered the next 67:30 and made one save, before first-year
Calla Andrews came on for the final 9:06.
For Hollins (1-9, 0-6 ODAC), Anna Starman tallied the team's lone shot on the day. Cat Bussani started in goal for the home side and made 18 saves on a 0.750 save percentage in 67:33 of action. Zoe Baxter played the final 22:27, allowed three goals and stopped two shots.
NOTEWORTHY POINTS:
With their win, the Generals increase their unbeaten streak in regular season play to 37 games (28-0-9), while improving to 12 games undefeated this season. The 12 games without a loss to start this season marks just the fourth such streak in program history, and it is the first time that back-to-back seasons have gone at least the first 12 games without a loss.
TEAM STATS:
W&L finished the game with a 59-1 advantage in total shots. After having not reached that total once in a game over the last 20 seasons, the Generals have now recorded exactly 59 attempts in two of their last three games. The Blue and White took 28 shots in the first half and 31 in the second, and they also earned 26 corner kicks to none for Hollins.
