LEXINGTON, Va. -- Washington and Lee Michael F. Walsh Director of Athletics Jan Hathorn has announced that a record 412 Washington and Lee student-athletes have received the Scholar-Athlete Award after compiling a grade-point average (GPA) of at least 3.5 during the recently completed fall term.

The former high mark was 372 scholar-athletes set during the 2022 winter term. The students are all members of W&L athletic teams, and all 24 teams produced a cumulative team GPA of 3.37 or better led by the women's soccer team, who combined for a 3.747 team GPA. The top men's team GPA was 3.724 which was achieved by the men's golf team.

In addition to the record number of scholar-athletes, there are 71 students-athletes who earned a perfect GPA in the fall semester breaking the previous record of 69 individuals, which was also set during the Winter term of 2022.
