GLEN ALLEN, Va. – The 10th-ranked Washington and Lee women's golf team maintained its lead following the second day of competition at the ODAC Championship held at the Dominion Club on Monday.
Lynchburg trimmed one stroke off the Generals' lead on the second day and W&L will carry a sizeable 17-stroke lead into the final round on Tuesday. W&L posted a 308 on Monday for a two-day score of 301-308—609 (+33). The Hornets are at 319-307—626 (+50), with Bridgewater just six strokes behind at 315-317—632 (+56). Shenandoah (753), Sweet Briar (754) and Randolph-Macon (763) round out the team standings.
Individually, Bridgewater's Sophia Martone will carry a three-stroke lead into the final day. She has carded a +1 score of 73-72—145 that is three strokes better than Emily Brubaker of Lynchburg.
W&L claims three of the Top 5 players and five of the Top 12 overall in the individual standings. Junior
Megan Kanaby (Chapel Hill, N.C. / Cardinal Gibbons) is third overall with a +6 score of 75-75—150. She is followed by first-year
Marcella Mercer (Bigfork, Montana / Flathead) in fourth with a 72-79—151 (+7) and first-year
An Shelmire (Dallas, Texas / Highland Park) in fifth with a 77-76—153 (+9).
First-year
Laetitia Roegner (Greenwich, Conn. / IMG Academy) is ninth overall out of the 33 golfers with a +14 score of 77-81—158 and senior
Savannah Johnson (Owens Cross Roads, Ala. / Huntsville) is tied for 12th with an 84-78—162 (+18).
Final round action will begin at 8 am on Tuesday morning.
