YORK, Pa. - The Washington and Lee University wrestling team wrapped up competition at the New Standard Invitational on Saturday afternoon with three Generals finishing in the top-6 with a spot on the podium.

Cameron Blizard (Greensboro, N.C. / Ragsdale) opened up Saturday as the last General standing in the championship bracket by advancing to the 184 semifinal match.

In the semifinal bout, Stevens' Frank Medina defeated Blizard by decision, 9-3 to send Blizard into the consolation bracket.

Blizard then blew through the first consolation semifinal, an 11-2 decision over TCNJ's Demetrius Ruiz, with five takedowns over the three periods before falling 15-3 in the third place match to Khalil Mitchell from Averett.

Riley Parker (Virginia Beach, Va. / First Colonial) was knocked out of the championship bouts after a 3-1 loss to Averett's Mason Barrett in the quarterfinals but battled his way through the consolation draw and into the 125 third place match.

In the consolation final, Parker posted a 17-6 major decision over York's Jared Kuhns to take third.

Parker opened up the podium match with three takedowns and a nearfall for an early 10-2 lead following a pair of Kuhns' escapes. Two more takedowns in the second and one in the final period with a riding time point made Parker the top-finisher for the Blue and White.

John Ryan Sedovy (Lexington, Va. / Rockbridge County) fought his way through the consolation draw and fell in the consolation semi-finals 10-0 into the 5th place match. Sedovy fell to James Cruz 16-0 (2:58) for the sixth place podium finish.

The Generals finished 9th of 12 teams with 38 points, Johnson and Wales University ran away with the team title by scoring 118.5 points and JWU's Joziah Fry was named the Invitational's Most Outstanding Wrestler.

The squad returns home on Wednesday, December 7 for a 7 p.m. ODAC dual against Ferrum College.
