Trio of Generals earn VaSID All-State recognition

BUENA VISTA, Va. – The Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) announced its 2021 Women's Soccer College Division All-State teams on Tuesday, and Washington and Lee had three players honored.

Senior midfielder Erin Hoeh (Chesterland, Ohio/West Geauga) led the way with a first team nod, with senior defender Chloe Rapier (Chandler, Ariz./Hamilton) and junior midfielder Grace Wielechowski (Charlotte, N.C./Charlotte Catholic) earning spots on the second team.

Hoeh led the ODAC with eight assists this season and also produced seven goals for a total of 22 points. Her 22 points were the second-most on the team and fourth in the conference, and her goals, assists and points totals all marked single-season career highs. Hoeh logged at least one point in nine contests this season, including a run of six straight games from mid-October to early November.

Hoeh was named a First Team All-Region pick and she also claimed her fourth All-ODAC citation this season as well, the first to do so for the program since Kate Bidwell '02.

Rapier started 17 games for the Generals this season, and she was an anchor on a defensive unit that yielded a 0.54 goals-against average and nine shutouts. Rapier also added two points on one goal on the offensive end, which came in a 5-0 win over Guilford. Rapier was named to the All-Region Second Team and All-ODAC First Team this season, and she also earned ODAC Scholar-Athlete of the Year and CoSIDA Academic All-District honors as well.

Wielechowski led the team with 11 goals while starting all 18 games this season. Her 11 goals marked a single-season career high, and she also ranked third in the ODAC in that category. Wielechowski added an assist for a total of 23 points on the season, also third in the conference, and she tallied at least one point in eight outings. Five of Wielechowski's goals went down as game-winning tallies, the most on the team and second-most in the ODAC.

Wielechowski was named to the All-ODAC First Team this season for her first career all-conference citation.
