Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Records Fall in Generals' 120-66 Victory Over Ramapo

ARLINGTON, Va. — First-year guard Thomas Feigin (New York, N.Y./Trevor Day School) made 11 triples to break the Washington and Lee men's basketball team's single-game three-pointers record in a 120-66 victory over Ramapo on Sunday in the consolation game of the Pablo Coto Tip-Off Tournament hosted by Marymount. W&L also set the team single-game three-pointers made record.

The Generals (2-0) scored the first seven points of the contest, with sophomore forward Robert DiSibio (Sandy Hook, Conn./Newtown) responsible for five of those. After back-to-back buckets by the Roadrunners (1-3), a three-pointer by senior guard Mark Lamendola (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mount Lebanon) ignited a 15-0 onslaught.

DiSibio followed Lamendola's triple with one of his own, and then back-to-back layups by junior guard Richie Manigault (Stewartsville, N.J./Phillipsburg) extended the advantage to 17-4 with 14 minutes left in the half. A three-pointer by Feigin pushed the margin to 16 (20-4), and Manigault capped the run with another layup to give the Blue and White a 22-4 lead with 13:43 remaining in the first half.

From there, the Generals made eight more three-pointers the rest of the half, with DiSiBio and Feigin each draining five in the game's opening 20 minutes, to assume a 59-30 lead at the break. The 59 points in the first half are the most for W&L since scoring 63 in the opening half of a 116-71 victory over Whittier on November 22, 2019.

The contest was never in doubt in the second, and the only drama remaining involved the breaking of records. Leading 78-38 with 13:47 remaining in the second, Feigin subbed in and sunk a three-pointer five seconds after entering. On the next offensive series, he splashed another and then on the next trip down, he tied the program record by making his eighth of the game with 12:49 left in the contest.

Feigin attempted to break the mark on the next possession, but missed his first triple of the contest. It did not take long for him to get another chance and with 11:37 to go in the game, he splashed his ninth of the day, breaking the previous record of eight set by William Brueggeman '21 on February 19, 2021.

With 5:52 left in the game, Feigin notched his 10th of the contest and W&L's 20th to set the team single-game program mark. The Blue and White added two more the rest of the way and Feigin registered one final triple to put his total at 11 in the 54-point win.

Feigin needed just 20 minutes of action to drain his 11 three-pointers, and he finished the game 11-of-14 from the field and from long range to notch his season-best 33 points. His 11 triples also tied the ODAC record, becoming the fifth player to drain 11 three-pointers. Feigin was also named the the All-Tournament Team following the contest. DiSibio was 8-of-10 from the floor and 6-of-8 from beyond the arc to total 24 points.

Manigault led the team in rebounding with 12 boards, while Lamendola notched a career-high 10 assists to go with one steal and three blocks.

The Blue and White finished the game 22-of-43 (51.2 precent) from long range. The 22 made three-pointers broke the previous record of 19 set in a 90-61 win over Guilford on February 1, 2020.

The 120 points are the most for the Generals since scoring a program-record 126 against Mary Washington on January 9, 1995. It is the second-most in team history and the most in a regulation contest. The 54-point win is the largest since a 115-48 victory (67 points) over N.Y. Maritime on January 8, 1988.

First-year center Tali Koomson and first-year guard Justin Bladen each had a team-high 13 points to lead Ramapo, while Koomson added six rebounds.

The Generals return to action on Tuesday, when they host Southern Virginia on Tuesday at 3:00 pm.
