Webb Tallies 2,000th Career Assist; Generals Fall to No. 14 Berry, 3-0

ATLANTA, Ga. — Junior setter Ashley Webb (Thousand Oaks, Calif./Westlake) notched her 2,000th career assist, but the Washington and Lee volleyball team fell to 14th-ranked Berry, 3-0, on Saturday in a neutral-site contest at the Emory National Invitational.

The Vikings (21-2) controlled play for much of the match, winning the sets 25-14, 25-17 and 25-13. Berry hit .333 in the contest with 39 kills and just eight errors on 93 attempts, while the Generals (23-7) registered a -.036 hitting percentage with 23 kills and 27 errors on 110 swings.

Webb finished the match with 12 assists, one ace and one dig. She pushed her career assist total to 2,002, becoming just the sixth player in program history to eclipse 2,000 in her career.

Sophomore outside hitter Sydney Heifner (Nashville, Tenn./Harpeth Hall) led the team in kills with nine to go with nine digs. Senior right side Carson Allsteadt (New Canaan, Conn./New Canaan) had six kills and four digs.

Junior defensive specialist Caroline Gard (Naperville, Ill./Benet Academy) tallied six digs, while first-year setter Allie Buchholz (Portland, Ore./Jesuit) totaled five digs and eight assists.

Junior outside hitter Peyton Breissinger led the Vikings with nine kills and four digs. Junior setter Emily Rapach recorded 21 assists, three kills and three digs.

This marked the final match of the regular season for the Generals. The Blue and White has secured the top seed in the ODAC Tournament and will host eighth-seeded Shenandoah on Wednesday in the quarterfinals.
