LEXINGTON, Va. — The Washington and Lee volleyball team registered a .342 hitting percentage, while holding Hollins to -.077, in a 3-0 victory on Saturday at Holekamp Gym.
The Generals (17-5, 8-0 ODAC) only trailed for three points the entire match, taking the sets, 25-12, 25-8 and 25-12.
The Blue and White totaled 37 kills with just 11 errors on 76 swings for its hitting percentage, while Hollins (4-14, 0-7 ODAC) notched 11 kills and 17 errors on 78 attempts. W&L also registered 14 service errors compared to five for Hollins.
Senior right side
Carson Allsteadt (New Canaan, Conn./New Canaan) led the team with eight kills in just two sets, while hitting .462. First-year outside hitter
Maddie Weller (West Chester, Pa./Downingtown STEM Academy) tallied six kills and one ace.
Sophomore middle blocker
Walker Miller (Richmond, Va./Collegiate) and senior middle blocker
Katy Blain (West Palm Beach, Fla./Benjamin School) each recorded five kills on six swings for an .833 hitting percentage. First-year outside hitter
Avery Myers (New York, N.Y./Poly Prep Country Day School) contributed a team-best nine digs to go with four kills.
First-year setter
Allie Buchholz (Portland, Ore./Jesuit) had 13 assists, four aces, two kills and two digs, while junior setter
Ashley Webb (Thousand Oaks, Calif./Westlake) totaled 19 assists and three aces. Junior defensive specialist
Caroline Gard (Naperville, Ill./Benet Academy) and sophomore defensive specialist
Aryel Jacques (Flower Mound, Texas/Edward S. Marcus) each tallied seven digs.
Senior right side Tyler Sesker led Hollins with five kills, while senior outside hitter Kenna Esquibel had six digs, one assist and two kills.
The Generals return to action later on Saturday against Virginia Wesleyan at 4:00 pm.
