PITTSBURGH – The Washington and Lee men's swimming team was defeated, 178-79, in a dual meet against Carnegie Mellon on Saturday.
Highlights from the meet:
-The Generals finished 11 events in the Top 3, and won three of those races. In all, four different swimmers combined for eight top-three finishes in individual races.
-W&L was led by juniors
Danny Lynch (Richmond, Va. / Trinity Episcopal School) and
Patrick Sullivan (Pawleys Island, S.C. / Waccamaw), who won one event each. Lynch secured a win in the 200 individual medley (1:59.38) and added a second-place finish in the 100 back (52.93). Sullivan was first in the 200 free (1:43.28) and also came in third in the 100 free (47.27).

Jared Nickodem (Jackson, Wis. / Cedarburg Senior) tallied three third-place efforts in the 200 fly (1:57.79), 100 fly (53.05) and 200 IM (2:04.21), while senior
Ben Brown (Baldwin, Md. / Loyola Blakefield) came in second in the 200 IM (2:03.97).
-Lynch and Sullivan both swam on the third-place 200 medley relay (1:35.87), while Sullivan also competed on the winning 200 free relay (1:26.69), swimming the third led.
