ASHLAND, Va. – The Washington and Lee men's swimming team defeated Randolph-Macon, 151-102, in a road dual meet on Saturday.
Highlights from the meet:
-The Generals won nine events on the day, all coming over the first 11 races before swimming exhibitions for the final three. In all, five different swimmers totaled eight individual wins.
-Juniors
Patrick Sullivan (Pawleys Island, S.C. / Waccamaw) and
Danny Lynch (Richmond, Va. / Trinity Episcopal School), as well as sophomore
Steve Warren (Westfield, N.J. / Westfield) all won two individual events for W&L. Sullivan won the 100 free (47.50) and 200 free (1:45.31), Lynch claimed first in the 100 back (54.48) and 200 back (2:02.79) and Warren topped the field in the 100 breast (1:00.01) and 200 breast (2:18.07).
-Lynch also swam on the winning 200 medley relay (1:37.59).
-Senior
Michael Struk (Pittsburgh, Pa. / North Allegheny) and junior
Conner Van Vooren (Morrisville, N.C. / Cary Christian School) added one individual win each to round out the first-place finishes. Struk won the 1000 free (10:37.20) and Van Vooren placed first in the 50 free (22.36).
