Box Score

LEXINGTON, Va. — The Washington and Lee volleyball team recorded a .413 hitting percentage en route to a 3-0 victory over Virginia Wesleyan on Saturday at the Duchossois Tennis Center.

The Blue and White led, 22-20, late in the second stanza, and following a kill by junior outside hitter Allison Webb (Thousand Oaks, Calif./Westlake) and an attack error by VWU, W&L had an opportunity to serve for set point, 24-20. A kill by first-year outside hitter Adeline Howell trimmed the Generals' lead to 24-21, but senior outside hitter Meg Guignon (St. Louis, Mo./Visitation Academy) answered with a kill of her own to give W&L the set, 25-21.

The Generals put the match away in the first 13 points of the third set, taking a 11-2 advantage. During the spurt, junior outside hitter Ashleigh Meade (Bristow, Va./Patriot) and Webb each had three kills. The Marlins regrouped following a time out, but it was too little too late, as W&L held on for a 25-18 victory in the set.
