LEXINGTON, Va. — Junior outside hitter Allison Webb (Thousand Oaks, Calif./Westlake) notched 15 kills on 28 attempts to lead the Washington and Lee volleyball team to a 3-0 sweep of Hollins on Saturday at the Duchossois Tennis Center.

The Generals (15-9, 9-1 ODAC) led the first set, 13-12, and then tallied five of the next six points to extend their advantage to 18-13. Hollins (9-13, 1-8 ODAC) eventually trimmed the margin back to four, 23-19, but kills by sophomore middle blocker Madeline Ferguson (San Antonio, Texas/Smithson Valley) and senior outside hitter Miller Townes (Greensboro, N.C./Walter Hines Page) gave the Blue and White the set, 25-19.

W&L made quick work of Hollins the rest of the match, winning the second, 25-11, and the third, 25-12. In the final set, the Generals hit .469 with 17 kills on 32 attempts and only two errors.

Webb had just one error on her way to 15 kills for a .500 hitting percentage. She also had five digs. Sophomore middle blocker Courtney Berry (Charlottesville, Va./Western Albemarle) totaled 10 kills on 17 attempts with two errors (.471 hitting percentage). She also added three blocks.

Senior outside hitter Meg Guignon (St. Louis, Mo./Visitation Academy) led the back row with a match-high 14 digs, and she also registered nine kills. Senior outside hitter Elly Cosgrove (Wilmington, N.C./John T. Hoggard) contributed 12 digs, four assists and two aces. Junior setter Anna Soroka (Mechanicsville, Va./Lee-Davis) tallied 34 assists and four digs.

Senior outside hitter Deja Hadden recorded nine kills to pace Hollins. Junior setter Casey Mahan had 12 assists and six digs.

The Generals honored their three seniors before the match. The Blue and White played Virginia Wesleyan later on Saturday.
