W&L Women's Swimming Defeats VMI, 160-68

LEXINGTON, Va. – The Washington and Lee women's swimming team claimed a 160-68 victory over VMI on Saturday afternoon at the W&L Natatorium.

Highlights From the Meet:

The Generals recorded first-place finishes in 13 out of the 14 events.
The Blue and White claimed the top spot in both of the relays. Sophomores Ashley Johnston (Gainesville, Ga. / North Hall), Emily Hageboeck (Charleston, W. Va. / George Washington), and Ali MacQueen (Memphis, Tenn. / St. Mary's Episcopal School) and junior Elle Chancey (Tampa, Fla. / Berkeley Preparatory School) placed first in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:50.71. Johnston, MacQueen and Chancey were joined by senior Cassidy Fuller (Moraga, Calif. / Campolindo) on the winning 200-yard free relay with a time of 1:40.11.
Sophomore Kelly Amar (Mount Vernon, N.Y. / The Ursuline School), and first-years Mattie Grant (Mechanicsville, Va. / Hanover) and Hannah Freibert (Lexington, Ky. / Henry Clay) led W&L with two first-place finishes each. Amar took first in the 200-yard free (1:58.74) and the 200-yard IM (2:14.32). Grant claimed the top spot in the 1000-yard free (10:52.04) and 500-yard free (5:19.19), while Freibert placed first in the 100-yard breast (1:07.55) and 200-yard breast (2:29.71).
