LEXINGTON, Va.— Junior midfielder Megan Engeland (Yardley, Pa. / Pennsbury) registered her first career hat trick to lead the Washington and Lee women's soccer team past Averett, 6-0, on Sunday afternoon at Watt Field.

Engeland scored all three of her goals in the first half and had three of the Generals' (2-2-1) first four goals.

Junior midfielder Sydney Abrisz (Chesterfield, Va. / Manchester) tallied the first goal of the game at the 1:09 mark after receiving the ball in the center of the box from senior defender Olivia Hunter (Tallahassee, Fla. / Maclay School).

Engeland scored her first goal in the fifth minute when she headed the ball into the back of the net off of a cross from senior midfielder Chandler Wickers (Portola Valley, Calif. / Menlo School) to give the Blue and White a 2-0 lead. She tallied an unassisted goal at the 9:17 mark and scored her final goal just a minute later off of a cross from first-year forward Sydney Von Rosenberg (Boerne, Texas / Boerne-Samuel V. Champion) to push the score to 4-0 heading into halftime.

First-year forward Megan Duncanson (Hillsborough, Calif. / Crystal Springs Uplands) scored the final two goals of the game. She tallied her first career goal at the 46:19 mark of the second half when she collected the ball outside the box and fired it past Averett (2-2-2) junior keeper Bailee Brown. Duncanson tallied W&L's final goal of the game in the 54th minute after receiving a cross from sophomore forward Kelsey Anderson (Alexandria, Va. / Episcopal).

The Generals outshot Averett, 38-0, and held a 14-0 edge in corner kicks. Brown played the entire match in goal for the Cougars and collected 12 saves.

Washington and Lee returns to action on Wednesday when it hosts Meredith at 4:00 pm.
