EMORY, Va. — Senior setter Elena West (Roanoke, Va./Northside) recorded the 2,000th assist of her collegiate career in leading the Washington and Lee volleyball team to a 3-0 sweep of Emory & Henry.

The two teams exchanged points for much of the first set, but back-to-back kills by junior outside hitter Meg Guignon (St. Louis, Mo./Visitation Academy) and sophomore outside hitter Ashleigh Meade (Bristow, Va./Patriot) gave the Generals (10-1, 3-0 ODAC) the first set, 25-23. The Blue and White made quick work of the Wasps (2-8, 0-2 ODAC) in the second, 25-16, and the third, 25-11, to close out the match.

West tallied 20 assists in the contest to become just the fourth player in program history to register at least 2,000 assists in her career. She now has 2,005 career assists in 83 matches played. West also had 13 digs in the contest.

Guignon led the team with 14 kills on 23 attempts for a .609 hitting percentage. She also chipped in eight digs. Mead notched nine kills, six digs and three service aces. First-year outside hitter Brynne Gould (Boone, N.C./Watauga) totaled eight kills on just 10 attempts for an .800 hitting percentage.

W&L had a team hitting percentage of .389 with 47 kills on 95 attempts with just 10 errors. E&H was held to a .124 hitting percentage with 24 kills and 12 errors on 97 attempts.

Junior outside hitter Rebecca Morehouse led the Wasps with seven kills and three blocks, while hitting .353. Junior setter Sam McCauley had 20 assists and four digs.

The Generals extended their winning streak to nine and play Brevard later on Saturday in a neutral-site contest.
