SALEM, Va. — Sophomore outside hitter Elly Cosgrove (Wilmington, N.C./John T. Hoggard) recorded a double-double with 13 kills and 13 digs to pace the Washington and Lee volleyball team to a 3-0 victory over Roanoke on Tuesday at the Cregger Center.

The Generals (13-1, 4-0 ODAC) started off slowly in the first set, falling behind the Maroons (9-4, 2-3 ODAC), 15-11. W&L tied the score, 16-16, behind a 5-1 run capped on a kill by senior middle blocker Mackenzie Shand (Saline, Mich./Saline). The teams were eventually tied, 22-22.

The Blue and White scored the next two points on kills by first-year outside hitter Allison Webb (Thousand Oaks, Calif./Westlake) and Shand. After a kill by Roanoke sophomore outside hitter Sydney Daniel, Cosgrove ended the set, 25-23, with a kill.

W&L trailed in the second set, 12-10, but scored 15 of the final 19 points to win the stanza, 25-16. The Generals opened the third on a 10-5 run en route to a 25-18 win to claim the match.

Cosgrove led the Generals in kills (13) and digs (13). Webb registered nine kills, eight digs and three blocks. Shand and sophomore outside hitter Meg Guignon (St. Louis, Mo./Visitation Academy) each had seven kills. Guignon added 11 digs, while Shand had five blocks to extend her streak of contests with at least five blocks to seven.

Junior setter Elena West (Roanoke, Va./Northside) contributed 32 assists, five digs and two blocks. Junior defensive specialist Katie Volk (Lancaster, Calif./Quartz Hill) tallied 11 digs.

Junior outside hitter Kylah Blackmore led the Maroons with 10 kills, while junior libero Ryan Hedgepeth registered a match-high 26 digs.

W&L has won 12 straight matches dating back to September 2. It marks the longest winning streak for the Blue and White since the team won 17 straight during the 2014 season.

The Generals return to action on Saturday, when they host Virginia Wesleyan at 11:00 am and Marymount at 3:30 pm.
