W&L Women's Soccer Falls to Shenandoah, 1-0

WINCHESTER, Va. – First-year forward Emily Yergin netted the game-winning goal in the 58th minute to lift the Shenandoah women's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over Washington and Lee on Saturday afternoon at Sprint Field.

Yergin received a cross from senior defender Alysha McCleaf and placed it just past sophomore goalkeeper Maggie Nolan (Flanders, N.J. / Mount Olive) at the 57:37 mark. Shenandoah (7-2, 0-1 ODAC) held onto the lead for the remainder of the contest to pull off the win.

For the game, W&L (4-3, 0-1 ODAC) held a slim 9-7 advantage in shots, while both teams took four corner kicks. Nolan played all 90 minutes and made one save. Senior goalkeeper Erin Septer also played the entire match and made five stops. Shenandoah also posted one team save.

The Generals return to action on Wednesday when they host Roanoke at 4:00 pm.
