HOBOKEN, N.J. – Washington and Lee first-year Zach Bylykbashi (Southington, Conn. / Southington) set a new school record for season victories, as the W&L wrestling team fell to 20th-ranked Stevens Tech (52-3) and 22nd-ranked NYU (45-3) on Saturday. 

The Generals (6-13, 0-8) forfeited six weight classes in each match due to injuries. 

Bylykbashi set the record in the day's opening match against Stevens Institute of Technology, defeating Joey Borai by a score of 8-2 at 133 pounds.  It was his 30th win of the season, surpassing the former season record of 29 wins set by senior Ron Tassoni (Media, Pa. / Haverford School) last season.  Bylykbashi fell to Nathan Pike of NYU in his second match by a score of 11-10 and his record now stands at 30-6 overall.

Tassoni was the other General to record a victory on the day.  He dropped a 13-2 decision to A.J. Kowal of Stevens Tech in his opening match at 184 pounds.  Kowal is currently ranked fifth in Division III.  Tassoni then recovered to post a 17-12 decision over Gaaret Marrinelli of NYU in his final match.  He is now 27-3 on the season.

Washington and Lee will return to action on Saturday when it participates in the Centennial Conference Championship hosted by McDaniel College.  Action begins at 11:00 am.
