ASHLAND, Va. — The second-seeded Washington and Lee volleyball team fell at top-seeded Randolph-Macon on Saturday, 3-0, in the ODAC Championship match at Crenshaw Gymnasium.

The Generals (24-10) hit -.061 for the match with 18 kills and 24 errors on 98 total attempts. The Yellow Jackets had a .170 hitting percentage with 36 kills and 18 errors on 106 attempts.

The turning point in the match came late in the first set. The Blue and White went up 21-19 to force a Randolph-Macon timeout. Out of the break, the Yellow Jackets won six straight points, highlighted by two kills by first-year outside hitter Miranda Hall, to win the set, 25-19. R-MC used the momentum from the opening stanza to take the second set, 25-12, and claim the third, 25-14.

Sophomore outside hitter Meg Guignon (St. Louis, Mo./Visitation Academy) led the Generals with five kills and seven digs. Junior defensive specialist Katie Volk (Lancaster, Calif./Quartz Hill) notched a match-high 11 digs. Senior middle blocker Mackenzie Shand (Saline, Mich./Saline) totaled six blocks, while first-year setter Mollie Ray (Charlotte, N.C./Charlotte Catholic) had 12 assists.

Hall led Randolph-Macon with 15 kills on a .345 hitting percentage. Junior setter Erin Quinn tallied 30 assists and seven digs, while sophomore outside hitter Mariah Clark had six kills, six digs and five blocks. With the victory, the Yellow Jackets earned the ODAC's automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament.

Following the match, Guignon and first-year outside hitter Ashleigh Meade (Bristow, Va./Patriot) were named to the ODAC All-Tournament Team.

The Generals will have to wait and see if they get an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament. The NCAA Division III volleyball selection show is on Monday, November 7, at 12:30 pm on NCAA.com.
