Box Score LEXINGTON, Va. – The No. 11 Washington and Lee men's soccer team and Roanoke played to a 1-1 draw after two overtime periods on Wednesday afternoon at Watt Field.
Junior forward Reeves Duggan (Birmingham, Ala. / Indian Springs School) gave the Generals (12-3-1, 6-1-1) a 1-0 lead in the 82nd minute after he collected a blocked shot in the six-yard box and fired it into the back of the net.
Roanoke (8-4-4, 5-0-3) tied the game in the 89th minute after senior defender Tim Mahabir took a free kick just outside the box that sailed into the top of the net and just past the hands of the Generals' junior keeper Gillen Beck (Blacksburg, Va. / Blacksburg).
It was all Washington and Lee in the first overtime, outshooting the Maroons 3-0. Junior goalkeeper Nick Tadros kept the Generals from scoring with two strong saves.
The Maroons controlled the second overtime period outshooting the Generals 4-0, however nothing was on target to pose a threat and the two teams walked away with the draw.
W&L outshot Roanoke, 17-12, and held a slim 5-4 edge in corner kicks. Beck played the full 110 minutes for the Generals and made three saves. Tadros also played the full game and made four stops for the Maroons.
The Generals play their final regular season game on Saturday at Bridgewater at 1:00 pm.
