Box Score LEXINGTON, Va. – Senior forward Tyler Slayton scored in the 69th-minute to help lift the Randolph-Macon men's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over 10th-ranked Washington and Lee on Saturday afternoon at Watt Field.
Slayton collected a rebounded shot just outside the six-yard box at the 68:38 mark and placed it in the lower corner just past junior goalkeeper Gillen Beck (Blacksburg, Va. / Blacksburg). The Yellow Jackets (8-2-2, 4-1) held onto the lead for the remainder of the contest to pull off the win.
W&L (10-3, 4-1) and Randolph-Macon went into intermission knotted at 0-0, with the Generals holding a 6-5 edge in shots during the first half.
For the game, W&L held a slim 15-13 advantage in shots, while Randolph-Macon held a 5-3 edge in corner kicks. Beck played all 90 minutes for the Generals and made five stops. Sophomore Brian Breslin also played the entire match in goal for R-MC and collected four saves.
The Generals return to action on Tuesday when they travel to Emory & Henry for a 6:30 pm game.
