Box Score LEXINGTON, Va. – The 22nd-ranked Washington and Lee women's soccer team scored three first-half goals en route to posting a 4-0 victory over Roanoke on Thursday afternoon at Watt Field.
W&L's (8-2, 4-1) four goals are the most scored against RC (6-4-1, 3-3-0) since a 4-1 win over the Maroons during the 2008 season.
First-year midfielder Caroline Peters (Charlotte, N.C. / Charlotte Latin School) tallied the game-winning goal in the 19th minute when she beat Roanoke's senior keeper Sarah Dvorak (Mechanicsville, Md. / St. Mary's Ryken) on a break away. Senior midfielder Erin Harvey (Mission Hills, Kan. / Pembroke Hill) scored the Blue and White's second goal off of an assist from junior forward Tricia Jessee (Roanoke, Va. / Patrick Henry) at the 30:32 mark.
The Generals took a 3-0 lead into the intermission after junior defender Hollis Tardy (Dallas, Texas / The Hockaday School) netted her fifth goal of the season off of a free kick with 3:45 remaining in the first stanza.
W&L's fourth goal of the contest came in the 69th minute when sophomore midfielder Rebecca Morris (Nashville, Tenn. / Harpeth Hall) found first-year midfielder Danielle Spickard (Valencia, Calif. / William S. Hart) to reach the final margin.
Washington and Lee held a 17-4 advantage in shots and a 3-2 edge in corner kicks.
Senior goalkeeper Addie Healy (Waterford, Va. / Woodgrove) made one save for the Generals in 90 minutes of action. Dvorak suffered the loss for the Maroons, finishing with four saves in 83:14, while sophomore goalie Caroline Liebel (Warrenton, Va. / Fauquier) played the remaining 6:46 and posted three saves.
W&L returns to the field on Saturday when it travels to Eastern Mennonite for a 7:00 pm contest.
