Box Score NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — Junior outside hitter Briana Sutton totaled a double-double with 11 kills and 11 digs to lead fourth-ranked Christopher Newport past the Washington and Lee volleyball team, 3-0, on Saturday.
The Captains (18-2) hit .253 as a team in a 25-15, 25-20, 25-15 victory over the Generals (10-9). The Blue and White struggled to find a rhythm on offense, totaling just a .121 hitting percentage.
Along with Sutton, senior outside hitter Abby McIntyre also posted double-digit kills with 10 on a .312 hitting percentage. Senior setter Rachel Conway distributed the ball with 28 assists.
First-year outside hitter Meg Guignon (St. Louis, Mo./Visitation Academy) led W&L with eight kills and 10 digs. Senior outside hitter Anna Lausberg (Ocoee, Fla./Bishop Moore Catholic) totaled seven kills and five digs.
Sophomore setter Vicky Kazmierczak (Huntley, Ill./Huntley) ran the offense for the Generals, totaling 22 assists and six digs. Sophomore defensive specialist Katie Volk (Lancaster, Calif./Quartz Hill) notched 10 digs.
W&L returns to action on Tuesday, when it hosts Roanoke at 6:30 pm.
