Box Score HARRISONBURG, Va. — Junior forward Tricia Jessee (Roanoke, Va./Patrick Henry) scored two goals and sophomore midfielder Rebecca Morris (Nashville, Tenn./Harpeth Hall) recorded a goal and an assist to lead the 22nd-ranked Washington and Lee women's soccer team to a 4-0 victory at Eastern Mennonite on Saturday evening.
Jessee scored both of her tallies in the second half. With the Generals (9-2-0, 5-1-0 ODAC) holding a 2-0 lead, Morris found Jessee with a cross from the right side, and Jessee struck the ball into the back of the net to push the W&L lead to 3-0 in the 61st minute.
Jessee netted her second goal seven minutes later off an assist from senior midfielder Rebecca Dunn (Houston, Texas/Memorial). Jessee now has five goals on the year.
Senior midfielder Erin Harvey (Mission Hills, Kan./Pembroke Hill) scored the Blue and White's first goal in the 23rd minute. The Royals (1-10-0, 0-4-0 ODAC) turned the ball over in their own penalty box, and Harvey made them pay with her second goal of the season.
Morris registered her second goal of the season at the 42:48 mark off an assist from first-year midfielder Caroline Peters (Charlotte, N.C./Charlotte Latin School).
W&L controlled the ball for a majority of the match, including a 36-6 advantage in shots. The Blue and White also took nine corner kicks compared to just one for EMU.
First-year goalkeeper Maggie Nolan (Flanders, N.J./Mount Olive) and senior Shelbi Hendricks (Louisville, Ky./Kentucky Country Day) combined to shutout the Royals. Nolan started the contest and made one save in 72:18, while Hendricks stopped two shots in 17:42. Senior Becca Borg played the entire match for EMU, making 14 saves.
The Generals next compete at home against Shenandoah on Wednesday at 4:00 pm.
