Box Score LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Washington and Lee women's basketball team closed on a 25-10 run over the final 10:05 to produce a 64-49 win over Randolph on Tuesday at the RAD Center.
The Generals (12-3, 5-2) shot just 27.6 percent (8-29) from the field in the first half en route to trailing 27-26 at the intermission.
The lead changed hands seven times in the opening 10 minutes of the second half, but the Generals caught fire from behind the arc, sinking six three-pointers over a span of 5:03, scoring 11 straight points at one point to take a 59-45 lead with 4:42 left. First-year guard Emily Perszyk (Greendale, Wis. / Greendale) drilled triples on three-straight possessions and hit five of her six three-pointers for the game during the decisive run.
W&L hit seven of its eight shots from downtown in the second half (8-23, .348) and committed just four turnovers across the final 20 minutes, finishing with just 12 turnovers for the game.
Randolph (11-5, 2-5) led by as many as seven points (16-9) in the first half, but the Generals used a 15-5 run to take the lead back with just 2:33 left in the opening stanza. W&L offset its poor first-half shooting by going 9-of-11 from the charity stripe.
Perszyk paced W&L with a game-high 22 points, all scored in the second half on 6-of-10 shooting from deep. Sophomore guard Jackie Clifford (Tenafly, N.J. / Tenafly) notched 15 points and five rebounds, while first-year forward Emma Redding (Allentown, Pa. / Central Catholic) totaled eight points and a career-high 10 rebounds.
Sophomore guard Jacqueline Hockman and senior forward Allie Druffel paced the WildCats with 12 points each. Senior forward Jensen Hoover chipped in 10 points.
Washington and Lee returns to action on Saturday when it hosts Virginia Wesleyan for a 2:00 pm contest.
