Box Score LEXINGTON, Va. — The Washington and Lee volleyball team earned a 3-0 win over Southern Virginia on Saturday on day two of the W&L Invitational, which marked the 400th victory at W&L for Head Coach Bryan Snyder.
The Generals (6-1) only won the three sets by a combined nine points, as they edged the Knights (3-4), 25-21, 25-22 and 25-23.
First-year outside hitter Mary Silliman (Orlando, Fla./Lake Highland Prep) led the Generals on offense with 10 kills and eight digs. Junior outside hitter Anna Lausberg (Ocoee, Fla./Bishop Moore Catholic) tallied eight kills on 16 attempts, and junior middle blocker Jenna Gustafson (San Diego, Calif./Francis Parker School) notched six kills on nine attempts for a .667 hitting percentage.
Junior setter Alex Kinzer (Greenville, S.C./Eastside) distributed the ball with 31 assists. She also added six digs and two service aces. Senior defensive specialist Kelly McManus (Osprey, Fla./Pine View) led the back row with nine digs.
First-year outside hitter Calyn Barry (Alpine, Utah/Lone Peak) and senior middle blocker Kaitlyn Eaton (Syracuse, Utah/Central Wyoming College) each totaled 11 kills to lead SVU. Sophomore outside hitter April Bennett (Kaysville, Utah/Davis) recorded a match-high 11 digs.
Snyder now has a 400-108 record in his 15 years at his alma mater for a .787 winning percentage. He has a 441-133 (.768) career record over his 17 years of coaching.
The Generals played Maryville later on Saturday in their final match of the W&L Invitational.
