Box Score

LEXINGTON, Va. — The Washington and Lee volleyball team earned a 3-0 victory over Emory & Henry on Saturday at the Warner Center, which marked the 450th in the career of head coach Bryan Snyder.

Sophomore middle blocker Mackenzie Shand (Saline, Mich./Saline) led the Generals (15-1, 4-0 ODAC) with 12 kills on just 16 attempts with one error (.688 hitting percentage).

In his 17th season as a head coach and in his 583rd match, Snyder improved his career winning percentage to .772 (450-133), which is currently the 12th-best mark in the history of NCAA Division III coaches with a minimum of 10 years coaching, and the ninth-best winning percentage among active Division III coaches. He also became the 34th active Division III coach with 450 victories.

The Generals took the first set, 25-17, and then held off the Wasps (8-7, 1-3 ODAC) in the second, 25-23. W&L made quick work of E&H in the third, 25-12, including three straight service aces by sophomore defensive specialist Maddy Cutler (Plainfield, Ind./Plainfield) to close out the match.

Junior setter Alex Kinzer (Greenville, S.C./Eastside) totaled 32 assists, three kills, nine digs, two aces and two blocks to pace the Blue and White. Junior outside hitter Kasey Cannon (North Wales, Pa./Mt. St. Joseph Academy) and sophomore defensive specialist Sam Moench (St. Petersburg, Fla./Berkeley Prep) also notched nine digs.

Sophomore outside hitter Hannah Doss (Meadowview, Va./Patrick Henry) led E&H with a team-best 11 kills. Sophomore outside hitter Tristen Pennington (Kingsport, Tenn./Sullivan South) registered a match-high 12 digs.

Earlier this season, Snyder won his 400th match as the head coach of W&L on September 6 at home against Southern Virginia. He is now 409-108 (.791 winning percentage) as the coach of the Generals. Snyder started his head coaching career at St. Mary's (Md.), and had a 41-25 record in two seasons.

The Generals have won 14 straight matches, which is the longest streak since winning a program-best 25 during the 2007 season. W&L also extended its home winning streak to 18. The program record for consecutive home victories is 25, which happened over the 2005, 2006 and 2007 seasons. The Blue and White hosted Mary Washington later on Saturday.
