Box Score HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, Va. – Sophomore midfielder Ted Hurst (Rochester Hills, Mich. / Rochester Adams) netted the game-winning goal for the Washington and Lee men's soccer team in a 1-0 victory over Hampden-Sydney on Saturday evening at Hellmuth-Pritzlaff Field.
After a scoreless first-half, Hurst tallied the contest's lone goal at the 48:18 mark with an assist from senior midfielder Al Organ (St. Paul, Minn. / DeLaSalle) to secure the win for the Generals (5-2, 1-2). It marked the first goal of the season for Hurst.
Senior goalkeeper Albert Civitarese (Bridgeville, Pa. / Sewickley Academy) saw all 90 minutes of action in the net and totaled three saves. Sophomore keeper Cameron McFarlene also played the entire match and had one save.
The Tigers (5-4, 2-2) out-shot the Generals, 9-7, and held an edge in corner kicks, 6-4.
W&L returns to action on Wednesday, when it travels to Eastern Mennonite for a 4:00 pm contest.
