W&L Wrestling Falls to Ursinus and Defeats Muhlenberg

LEXINGTON, Va. – The Washington and Lee wrestling team posted a 1-1 record in a tri-match on Saturday afternoon at Ursinus College.

W&L opened the day with a 41-3 loss to Ursinus and then posted a 36-9 win over Muhlenberg that featured just one contested match.

In the loss to Ursinus, the lone winner for W&L was sophomore Ron Tassoni (Media, Pa. / Haverford School), who posted a 6-3 win over Gnoleba Seri at 174 pounds.  Sophomore 285-pounder Grant Cokeley (Charleston, W.Va. / George Washington) had a close match before ultimately falling to Matan Peleg, 2-1.

In the Muhlenberg match, the Generals picked up six forfeit victories.  The lone match wrestled was at 149 pounds, where first-year Michael Rodgers (Allentown, Pa. / Allentown Central Catholic) dropped a 4-3 decision to Che Chengsupanimit.

Washington and Lee returns to action next Saturday as it participates in the Centennial Conference Championship hosted by Ursinus.  Action begins at 10:00 am.
