SALEM, Va. – Roanoke junior midfielder Marc Dinkel tallied one goal and one assist to lift the Maroons to a 2-0 victory over Washington and Lee in ODAC men's soccer action on Saturday evening at Kerr Stadium.

Dinkel netted the first goal of the game at the 5:06 mark when he beat senior goalkeeper Albert Civitarese (Bridgeville, Pa. / Sewickley Academy). The Maroons (12-2-2, 9-0-1) took the 1-0 lead over the Generals (10-4-1, 5-4-1) into halftime.

Roanoke added an insurance goal in the 66th minute when junior midfielder Robby Lentine scored off an assist from Dinkel.

Civitarese played the entire match in net and recorded six saves. Junior goalkeeper Cole Sinclair picked up the win for Roanoke, playing all 90 minutes in goal and making one save.

For the game, Roanoke out-shot W&L, 16-3, and held the edge in corner kicks, 6-4.

Washington and Lee returns to action on Wednesday when it travels to Emory & Henry for a 7:30 pm contest.
